About the El Paso, Anthony and Canutillo, Texas Area
Welcome to El Paso, located in the sunny Southwest, at the western tip of Texas, on the border of New Mexico and Mexico! The sun is shining and the sky is blue virtually every day of the year. The climate is without a doubt one of the best in the country. The days are warm, the nights are pleasant, and the air is dry. If you enjoy the outdoors, then El Paso is the place for you!
With the Franklin Mountains running through the middle of town, El Paso has a very scenic and diverse landscape. Great views can be enjoyed by driving to scenic vantage points up the rugged mountain, hiking up the many mountain trails, riding a cable car, or simply living in a mountainside home!
The Rio Grande flows along El Paso's southern boundary, separating Texas from Mexico and creating a sharp contrast in topography from the mountains. Along the river you'll find fertile and green valleys perfect for farming, horse back riding, or simply enjoying the country atmosphere.
The mix of people is as diverse as the landscape. You'll find a beautiful and unique blend of Old West, Mexican, Indian and Modern American cultures, to just name a few. And everyone lives peacefully together. As a matter of fact, El Paso was just named the second safest major city in the United States!
To make things even better, El Paso is very affordable! El Paso's cost of living is 10% below the national average! Home prices are very reasonable. El Paso was just named by Smart Money Magazine as one of the best buys in the country because of the undervalued real estate. On top of all of this, there is no state, city, or county income tax. How can you beat that?
This can only be beaten by the recreational opportunities available! Because of the great climate, you can enjoy golf, tennis, swimming, hiking, biking, running, or virtually any other outdoor activity almost year round. If spectator sports is your game, you'll love watching the NCAA National Champion University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) Miners, formerly coached by Hall of Famer Don Haskins, play basketball. There is also major college football along with professional baseball, soccer, and more!
If your interests lie more in the arts, you also have plenty to choose from. El Paso offers a wonderful symphony orchestra, the oldest in Texas, numerous play houses, a dinner theatre, ballet, opera, outdoor concerts, and many museums.
For those who enjoy games of chance, there is a large casino and race track located in Sunland Park, New Mexico, adjacent to El Paso.
Amazing day trips can also be enjoyed! First of all, you have Ciudad Juarez, just across the border to explore. Ruidoso, New Mexico is a beautiful resort town with horse racing and cool pines from which to escape the heat in the summer, and great skiing in the winter. Elephant Butte, New Mexico is perfect for enjoying boating and camping. Also, Carlsbad Caverns National Park is one of America's great natural treasures.
There is so much to see and do, the possibilites are endless!
